The commercial activities in Poland have been significantly restricted since a new law had been approved on March 1, 2018. It was being implemented gradually, with shops being closed only during some Sundays of a month in 2018.

2019 Regulations in Poland

Since 2019, more restrictions will apply – shops will be open only on one Sunday per month.

However, there are still number of businesses that are exempt from this restriction, for example:

  • bakeries
  • gas stations
  • florists
  • restaurants
  • post office points (this is the reason why so many Żabka stores are always open on Sundays – they have officially registered as points where you can send a letter or a package, thus qualifying as sort of post offices)
  • shops located at train stations
  • etc.

Check during which Sundays the shops will be closed and make sure to do your grocery a day ahead!
