For some weeks the world news has been in relation with the coronavirus (COVI-19).

This virus originated in the city of Wuhan, China at the end of December of the year 2019. Since that time, the virus has not been able to contain and more people around the world have been infected.

Coronavirus in Mexico

On Friday, February 28, 2020, the first case of coronavirus in Mexico was confirmed in a 35-year-old man in Mexico City. This man was recently in Italy.

Till today (Wednesday, March 4) Mexico has registered 5 confirmed cases of coronavirus.

Some other Latin American countries that have confirmed cases of coronavirus are: Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Dominican Republic.

Coronavirus in Europe

In Europe, the spread of this virus has not stopped. The country where more cases have been registered is Italy, with 2502 confirmed cases, and 79 deaths due to this virus .

Northern Italy is the area where the most cases of this virus occur, so it is not advisable to travel to that part of the country at this time.

Coronavirus in Poland

On March 3, 2020, Poland’s health minister – Łukasz Szumowski – reported that the first case of coronavirus infection in Poland was a man in the city of Zielona Góra in the province of Lubuskie.

This man is currently in a hospital in Zielona Góra. The health minister said that this patient “feels good” in general.

Due to the suspicion of coronavirus in Poland, 68 people are hospitalized and about 500 people have been quarantined.

The main symptoms of coronavirus are: shortness of breath, fever, cough and muscle pain.

How to prevent infections of the coronavirus?

It is important to mention that there is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

According to the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention), the best ways to prevent this virus include:

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water.
  • Use disinfectant gel.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Stay home when you’re sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw it away.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces with a spray or household cleaning wipe.
  • Avoid crowded places.
Is the coronavirus deadly?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) the mortality rate in Wuhan, China (the original city of the virus) is between 2% and 4%, but outside the Asian country the rate is reduced to 0.7% .

The most vulnerable people to this virus are the elderly, and people who are affected by a disease, especially respiratory type.
