From January 1st of 2018 there were new laws introduced about the registration and place of domicilie (zameldowanie) – and those changes also applied for foreigners. However, those changes are expected to make things easier.

The main change in to keep the obligation of being registered in your place of domicilie, for everyone – for Poles and for foreigners.

The most important change was that after the 1st of January all the foreigners, who are registered in ther place of domicilie and get a temporary o permanent residence permit, they will be able to receive a PESEL number without any problem. Last year, all the foreigners with temporary residence permiit could get the PESEL number only if they justify the need of having it.

According to the sources, all the related activities with the register og the place of domicilie will be able to do it by internet, without going to the governemetn offices.
